Grammy Time

I can't believe a year has passed!!  I am still a baby hog and lovin' it!  Nola (grand baby) loves her Grammy.  I have discovered the joy of being a grandparent.  I can be silly, playful, curious anything to since  her life.  She is all important to me.  Nola is so comfy I am able to relax her enough to nap or sleep. Grand parenting is so much better than parenting!!

My daughter Sarah in CA went into a coma in mid-November.  What a rush!!  I flew out and she had come to when I took off and back in ICU upon my landing.  Sarah's roommate picked me and took me to the hospital.  I walked in that room to see a skeleton of what was my daughter.  I knew she had been ill a couple of weeks but I did not expect to see her emanated.    It turns out Sarah is now a type 1 diabetic.  She had a wonderful team of doctors and nurses.  I was there everyday on adrenalin.  A week later on Thanksgiving I flew back home.  Sarah was home and doing so much better.  One thing I did notice was that the better Sarah became the worse I was becoming!  Flying back was extremely painful and it took another week at home to get my back to calm back down again.

My niece became engaged and married my best friend's son that I introduced her to.   It was a whirlwind romance that should be a movie.    This is the first family wedding that the family was going to actually attend. Talk about your wedding drama!!  The wedding turned out beautiful and everyone has relaxed and enjoyed it all.

God has been extremely good to me and my family.  It gives me such hope to see His mighty hand in my life. As you can see life is a trail.  2011 has been a year of meadows, a thoughtful path turning into hills to climb up then run down the other side!  Can't wait to see 2012 with my family and God's loving hand.  Happy New Year and God Bless.

Baby Hog

Baby Hog is something new to me.  I've not heard this phrase and wasn't quite sure whether it is a complement.  I first heard this phrase applied tp me this last Sunday (Easter).  I had decided to work in the nursery at church.  It was Easter and busy in the nursery and decided the extra volunteer was needed.  Besides my granddaughter was there and honestly, I wanted to keep an eye on her care.

It was when the service was over I was called a Baby Hog by who I am not quite sure.  I asked someone and I was told take it as a compliment; and so I did. I have since discovered it is meant to be mean.  This is very painful to me.  I offer to work in the nursery on one of the busiest Sunday's and I am called something mean because I care about my granddaughter and felt it was the families place to be part of the service.

Today Wednesday I called to see I could drop by for a visit and take them to lunch.  I was told great.  I was dumbfounded to find I was not to hold my granddaughter or play with her during the entire time.  My presence was shunned immediately after lunch.

When did it become a problem that children can only have so much love and any extra tossed away?  This whole experience is very painful to me.  Children are not to be used as a carrot and stick approach!  If I have hurt anyone's fellings or made an err this is not constructive.

I now have pulled away.  I can not be allowed to love my grandbaby in a helter skelter way.

Trails of Life

I have come to the conclusion that life is like walking down a trail.  I love walking in the woods hearing life crunch beneath my every step as I move forward. It reminds me how fragile life is, how temporary, how recycled!  Then there is the freshness of smells.  One can actually smell the life in trees, bushes and the ground itself. Stop close your eyes and just breath it all in and it will heighten your senses.

Then there are the inclines.  Some are slight and barely noticeable.  Some are straighter, sharper to the crest.  Some are straight then curve or turn as we meander in the cool of shade  up to the crest.  Some are straight but walking in mud.  We hold on to objects for stability so not to slide backwards.  Times we humbly fall to our knees in the mire. Some are sand dunes where our steps are angled as we make our way in heavy steps to the crest in the heat. We no sooner relish the fact that we are seasoned hikers when we stumble over a bared root or the ground shifts and slides beneath our feet1

Then we have these same trails in various climates, times of days and of course seasons. There are times we are alone. Times with friends and loved ones.  Some times we walk in a crowd of people and notice nothing but the steps we take.

I think my journey here will be my walks in the country.
